Weight Loss in Dubai: Arrange a Care Handover

Changing the provider overseeing weight loss in Dubai involves more than forwarding a weight chart. A move, referral or switch between programmes can leave questions about records, pending results and who answers treatment concerns. Plan the handover with both services so the receiving clinician can review the existing care rather than reconstruct it from scattered messages.

Prepare a dated care summary

Request relevant consultation notes, laboratory reports with dates, current prescriptions and previous treatment changes. Add your medicine and supplement list, allergies and any side effects that affected eating or activity. Ask how records can be shared securely and what consent is needed. Do not assume the two providers use a shared record system. Overseas patient-information guidance does not establish a UAE service’s record-transfer rules; confirm the actual process locally.

Clarify responsibility during the gap

Ask the current team who responds until the new appointment and whether the receiving service has accepted the referral. Clarify questions about prescription continuity with the responsible prescriber before a supply runs low. A booking acknowledgement is not confirmation that another clinician has taken over treatment. Write down both contact routes and any agreed interim instructions. Do not stop, restart or substitute a medicine merely because you are switching providers.

Carry outstanding monitoring forward

List any result still awaited, planned test or review already due, with its purpose and the clinician expected to act on it. Ask both services who will track each outstanding item. Give the receiving clinician existing results before purchasing a replacement panel; they should decide what remains useful or needs repeating. Bring the previous monitoring method too, so an apparent change is not interpreted without knowing when and how measurements were taken.

Reconcile the plan at the receiving visit

Explain what matters most now, why you changed services and any information missing from the transfer. Ask which instructions still apply, whether a reassessment is needed and who now coordinates medical, dietetic and behavioural support. Request a written plan and next review date, including how to resolve conflicting advice. If concerning symptoms develop before that visit, seek timely medical assessment; waiting for records must not delay necessary care.

Common questions

Is a weight-chart screenshot enough?

No. It does not explain treatment, symptoms, medicines or pending results. Ask which complete reports and notes the receiving clinician needs.

Will the new clinician automatically continue my prescription?

Do not assume so. The receiving prescriber must review suitability and the available history. Arrange continuity questions with the current team before the handover.

What if the records have not arrived?

Tell both services and bring copies you already hold through a secure route. Ask what can proceed safely and which decisions need the missing information.

Sources and information limits

Sources support general medical principles, not the UAE booking policies or service availability. Confirm instructions and local arrangements with the care provider. The update date does not claim clinician review.

Questions before arranging an appointment?

Enquire about the next steps and availability. An enquiry does not confirm a booking or diagnosis and is not an emergency service.
